The London Pub, located beneath the Royal National Hotel in Bloomsbury, has reopened following a redesign by Brighton-based agency DesignLSM.
The new look captures the essence of a traditional London pub, despite the site not being located within a heritage property.
Upon entering, guests are immersed in a visual journey through the bustling streets of London, where eclectic art pieces and materiality—like timber paneling and brass—typically found in an old British pub are interpreted in a contemporary way.
Vibrant, modern hues are interspersed with light industrial materials, blending different eras to reflect the rich tapestry of London’s history and culture.
A glowing bar, inspired by London’s iconic transport networks, serves as the centerpiece of the space, with its striking geometric tile wrap reminiscent of tube lines and the flow of travel.
Meanwhile, illuminated, faceted mirrors reference the city’s glass buildings and skyscrapers, while retro-modern details such as 1970s-style clear glass blocks, traditional oak timber, and antique brass accents evoke a sense of nostalgia.
Outside, a large pergola structure offers a year-round outdoor social space, where black and white tile planters are set against bright, colorful furniture.
