The Tommy Bahama Restaurant, Bar & Store opened last month in Waikiki.
Joined by a circular staircase just right of the entrance, the 19,200-square-foot, beachfront outlet offers a retail experience on the ground floor; a second-floor restaurant that features a living wall planted with local flora; and a rooftop lounge on the third floor that comes with a living herb wall for chef use as well as a sandy area with firepits and oversized seating.
Bright and open interiors are characterized by an indoor-outdoor vibe with Hawaiian-inspired details. Locally crafted furniture in the outdoor, private dining, elevator, and fitting areas is made from reclaimed monkeypod, mango, and mahogany woods. Throughout the building, scaffold plank beam ceilings are juxtaposed with wide-plank oak flooring. Also on display are three vintage surfboards—two in the restaurant and one in the store—that belonged to local surfer Tom “Pohaku” Stone.
The Waikiki location joins two other Tommy Bahama Restaurant Bar & Store outlets in Hawaii—located in the Shops at Mauna Lani on the Big Island and the Shops at Wailea on Maui—along with six retail stores.
