The AC Hotel Washington DC Downtown has opened in the city’s Golden Triangle Business Improvement District. The new Marriott property is the first ground-up hotel constructed in the neighborhood since 1971, as well as the city’s first AC Hotels outpost. Houston-based practice PDG Studios designeed the 219-room boutique hotel, which conveys an intimate European-inspired sensibility.
The modern interior draws upon the influence of the city, reinterpreting its stately aesthetic with soft, curvaceous furniture set against a backdrop of strong, clean lines. Artwork in the lobby—including a glazed ceramic installation depicting the Washington Monument and a felt wall modeled to resemble a Metro station—instills a sense of place. Onsite amenities include a fitness center, 2,240-square-foot seasonal café, and a rooftop terrace that overlooks 19th Street.
