AIC Hotel Group has announced the launch of UNICO Hotels, an adults-only brand comprising a portfolio of properties that reflect each location’s culture and heritage. Each hotel will be named for its longitude and latitude, with the first property, 20° 87°, located on the Yucatan Peninsula along Mexico’s Riviera Maya. UNICO hotels will offer a variety of locally sourced amenities, including an in-room gallery where guests can purchase pieces by local artisans, and the Experience Room concept for items from beach gear to personalized in-room amenities. All properties will feature an onsite brewery or distillery.
The 448-room UNICO Hotel Riviera Maya, slated to open in the first quarter of 2017, features interiors by New York-based AvroKO and architecture by Mexico City-based Artigas Arquitectos. First-floor guestrooms will feature chaise lounges and plunge pools while visitors staying on floors two through five will have access to personal spa tubs. Each room also includes furnished balconies, single rain showers, custom furniture, and water views.
A wellness facility will treat guests to a fitness center and a spa with 18 cabanas and hydrotherapy facilities that include a plunge pool, Hammam, and sauna and steam rooms.
An 11,600-square-foot ballroom is among the property’s meeting and event space, as well as 10 breakout spaces and an outdoor venue. Additional amenities include three large pools, four onsite restaurants, and five bars and lounges.
