The AKA University City has debuted across the top 18 floors of Philadelphia’s FMC Tower at Circa Centre South, which was completed by by New York-based firms Pelli Clarke Pelli and Asfour Guzay Architects, as well as locally based BLTa. The opulent concept houses a collection of 268 luxury guestrooms and apartment residences.
Executed by Italian architecture and design firm Lissoni Associati, the streamlined hotel rooms and apartments reflect modern sensibilities that evoke timeless sophistication. Lissoni Associati and lead designer Nicoletta Canesi also oversaw the design of Level 28, the hotel’s 25,000-square-foot lifestyle club spread across the building’s 28th floor. The club hosts amenities from wellness options to dining to outdoor leisure on a 5,000-square-foot terrace. Club 28 also boasts a 72-foot-long stainless steel aerial pool with a deck appointed with floor-to-ceiling windows and contemporary lounge seating. AKA’s signature private lounge is also outfitted with an open terrace and a fitness center designed by Antonio Citterio, which includes a yoga studio, private treatment room, and private locker rooms. Guests have access to the indoor-outdoor, Michelin-starred Walnut Street Café.
