Named for the Mayan god of day and night, the Itz’ana Resort & Residences is set to debut in Belize next month with architecture and design from Boston-based architect Roberto de Oliveira Castro and New York designer Samuel Amoia.
Spread across 20 acres, the property will open with 16 deluxe suites and two beachfront residences. By 2018, there will be 50 suites and 46 waterfront residences. The tropical ambiance will be amplified with vintage pieces sourced in Central America as well as custom furnishings produced by local artisans. Vibrant interiors will be accented by striking murals—courtesy of artist George Venson—in the gift shop, reception area, suites, and the Rum Room. Located in the Great House, the Rum Room will serve as a rustic, clandestine destination along with the Hemingway-inspired Biblio Bar. Additional F&B concepts will include the Overwater Ceviche bar and the indoor-outdoor Limilia Restaurant.
Accommodations will range from the 500-square-foot deluxe suite to the 4,825-square-foot five-bedroom villa. Included among the resort’s amenities will be an infinity-edge pool, the Nook movie screening room, access to a private island, a marina, spa, and 3,000 square feet of indoor-outdoor meeting and event space.
