The Amara Resort and Spa in Sedona, Arizona has unveiled a comprehensive multimillion-dollar facelift that impacted public spaces as well as all 100 accommodations. Led by Scottsdale-based Mendil + Meyer Design Studio, the revamp draws inspiration from the natural splendor of the setting and reinvigorates the retreat with an emphasis on sensory experience. “It’s beautiful to see our vision come to life in such a harmonious way,” says Mendil + Meyer cofounder Anissa Mendil. “It’s been a pleasure working with the Amara team throughout this process and we’re excited to celebrate the completion of this renovation.”
Dramatic vaulted ceilings welcome guests in the lobby along with a pair of chandeliers reminiscent of constellations. Wood accents and bold textures characterize the space, while an elongated bar extends from the SaltRock Southwest Kitchen into the communal area as a key focal point. SaltRock was also reimagined with seating upholstered in burnt orange velvet banquettes, walls of Himalayan salt accents, a live-edge communal dining table, antique mirrors, and custom privacy screens.
The Amara Spa boasts new finishes and features as well, including a 24-hour fitness center, retail space, five meeting and event spaces, and more than 4,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space. Refreshed carpeting, windows treatments, and a neutral palette juxtaposed by pops of accent color also spark creativity.
The updated guestrooms were conceived as sanctuaries, complete with neutral tones and organic textures. A deep blue feature wall further emphasizes a connection to the nearby babbling creek, while rich wood elements like headboards crafted from fallen trees reinforce the setting. New artwork, carpeting, and linens featuring bold patterns, geometric shapes, and handwoven details inject a masculine sensibility across each room.
