Early next year, real estate company Alfa Development will open HGU New York in Manhattan’s NoMad neighborhood.
The locally inspired, 90-room boutique hotel will be converted from a historic building with select original features, such as a 110-year-old ceiling in the vestibule, retained. Peter Guzy, co-founder of locally based Asfour Guzy Architects, has been tapped to conceive the ten-story building’s design language, which will reference traditional New York apartments. Within guestrooms, a soft palette will complement wood paneled floors and handwoven Turkish rugs, while plush velvet headboards and wood cabinetry will add a sense of warmth.
A partnership with pop-up endeavor Gallery 151 will add rotating art installations displayed throughout HGU’s public areas and accommodations.
Amenities will include 1905—a lounge with a fireplace original to the building, as well as live entertainment such as artist recording sessions and private film screenings.
