Spanning more than 100 acres in New York’s Catskill Mountain region—on the grounds of a former wildlife reserve—the all-inclusive Chatwal Lodge, part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection, has unveiled three treehouses as an addition to its 11 existing suites and cottages.
Each treehouse, designed by the in-house team at Hyatt, can accommodate up to four guests with a king-sized bedroom on the main level, a loft with a queen murphy bed, a living room with a wet bar, a covered balcony, and an exterior deck with a gas fire pit.
Hovering 15 feet off the ground, the treehouses gracefully integrate a modern sensibility into the surrounding oak and maple trees. Oversized windows allow for maximum natural light and sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.
“The inspiration behind the Chatwal Lodge’s treehouses stemmed from taking the humble idea of a treehouse, which effectively is a ’room perched in tree canopy,’ but elevating to the realm of luxury,” says Robert Mallia of Hyatt. “In keeping with the rest of the unique accommodations at the property, the calming design of these treehouses cultivates an effortless escape that is enveloped by nature.”
While the architectural design of the three units is uniform, each expresses its own identity through unique artwork and décor. Custom furnishings and distinctive found pieces—from petrified wood and mango root tables to live-edge teak wood slabs—create an elevated yet eclectic aesthetic.
A pool and spa concept is also slated to debut at Chatwal Lodge later this year.
