Construction has begun on Dutch lifestyle brand citizenM’s first Irish hotel, citizenM Dublin St. Patrick’s, scheduled to open early 2025. Long-standing design partner concrete, creator of the original citizenM concept that debuted in 2008, is joining forces with primary contractor Gilbert-Ash, which also collaborated with the brand on the fully modular construction of its London Victoria Station outpost.
The 245-room, nine-story hotel will meld modern construction techniques with the adaptive-reuse of Molyneux House, an iconic Brutalist landmark near St. Patrick’s Cathedral that was formerly used as a Huguenot church, a bird market, and the offices of Irish architect Sam Stephenson, who designed the building. The structure’s historic façade will be retained as part of the team’s aim to embrace sustainable building practices in line with citizenM’s growing commitment to ESG initiatives.
The hotel will feature citizenM’s signature bedrooms and living room spaces with art, designer furniture, and a 24/7 canteenM serving breakfast, coffee, cocktails, and grab-and-go food. A double-height open-air art gallery will be accessible from the ground floor, along with a terrace courtyard and four societyM meeting rooms available for full- or half-day use.
An integrated developer, owner, and operator, citizenM will open new properties in Austin, Texas, and California’s Silicon Valley over the next several months. The brand also has hotels under development in Boston; Washington, DC; Miami; Rome; and London.
