Coral Sands Inn & Cottages on Harbour Island, Bahamas is being renovated by its new owners, real estate and hospitality company AJ Capital Partners (AJ).
The multiphase restoration—led by AJ’s internal team—recently completed renovations across the property’s 41 accommodations, including its marquee sea cottages and stand-alone beachside residences.
The retreat also introduced a new open-air fitness facility with pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts; two new dining concepts; refreshed public spaces; and a gift shop.
Coral Sands captures vibrant island living
A hyperlocal interior design concept creates a comfortable yet sophisticated experience that preserves the timeless charm that has made the property a classic Caribbean destination since the late 1960s.
Key highlights include island-inspired ceiling murals; 7,000 hand-clad shells embedded into the columns of the Pink Mermaid restaurant; bespoke wallpaper capturing the island’s flora, fauna, and landscape; and curated art pieces sourced from around the world that reflect the cultural heritage of the Bahamas.
The redesign of Coral Sands captures the vibrant spirit of Harbour Island, “blending seamlessly into the vibrant community on this famous pink beach,” says Krissy Melendez, head of design at AJ. “We’re honored to infuse this iconic space with local color, lore, and tradition. Expect furniture adorned with locally harvested shells, custom Caribbean teal tiles, handpainted grasscloth walls, and a beach bar that ignites all senses.”
Coral Sands’ multiphase restoration continues, with the next chapter of property enhancements underway, including a newly constructed spa slated to open this year.
