Aparthotel brand Locke will add its sixth lifestyle property in London this July. Spread across eight floors, Ember Locke will house a total of 121 units, ranging from studios to duplex one-bedrooms and apartments.
The warm and distinctive property, designed in collaboration with Atelier Ochre and House of Dré, pays homage to the now-shuttered Kensington Roof Gardens and the laissez-faire flamboyance of midcentury fashion brand Biba.
“We’re very excited to be opening our first property in West London, in an ideal neighborhood for Locke,” says Locke chief development officer and creative director Eric Jafari. “This part of West London has long captured the attention of leisure and business travelers alike—you have some of the city’s best museums and shopping locations on your doorstep, and in the last few years the area has had a real spotlight on it, with some of the best restaurants in London opening here. With the buzzing neighborhood of Notting Hill close by and tranquil Hyde Park moments away, we are excited for Ember Locke to open its doors for guests.”
Beyond the lobby, common areas will include a coffee shop, bar, restaurant, performance stage, coworking space, meeting room, and garden. Accommodations will be fashioned akin to boudoirs with colorful tones, luxe materials, vibrant patterns, and Art Deco details. A modern ethos will also imbue each chamber with bold character via sweeping rolled banquette seating, deconstructed wardrobes, and retro fittings. Glamorous accents like brass details, fringes, tassels, and heavy dividing curtains will layer the spaces with sophistication as well.
