The Hyatt Centric Downtown Nashville joined the brand’s portfolio earlier this year in the city’s South of Broadway (SoBro) neighborhood. Spread across 170,000 square feet, the 252-key hotel was crafted by New York-based Stonehill Taylor to evoke the distinctive Southern ethos of a well-traveled Nashvillian complete with residential references and a sprawling art collection curated to resemble one’s own personal collection.
“The chief design goal of this project was always to create a sense of belonging for all, with personal touches that would make the hotel feel like home,” says Andrea Perez, senior interior designer for Stonehill Taylor. “We combined the Hyatt Centric brand’s youthful spirit with inspired local residential design and culture.”
A colorful feeling of authenticity is conveyed through a selection of plush fabrics, custom wallpaper, and murals. Boldly hued walls and ceilings and abundant daylighting nod to Southern porches, while country music is echoed in elements like the chandelier on the double-height ground floor, which channels the beaded and sequined attire of stars like Dolly Parton. Atop multicolored terrazzo floors inspired by the rocky outcroppings of the Cumberland River, handcrafted furniture composed of wood, metal details, and patterned textiles further instill an honest sense of place in public areas. River rock pearls and agates, handcrafted jewelry boxes, and crafting tools are also peppered across the interior to inspire curiosity as well.
Modern conservatory-style restaurant Ella’s anchors the property’s F&B lineup, accommodating guests in a sundrenched venue lined with floor-to-ceiling windows, polished concrete floors, and brass details. Signature pine of the region is sourced for the millwork-fronted bar, while metal-inspired bar stools are clad with floral backs.
Each accommodations evokes its own distinct personality, but share organic motifs, sculptural round mirrors, and ceramic tiles in the bathroom. Eleven standard rooms are equipped with kitchenettes, millwork closets, L-shaped sofas, and musical elements—like a record player and curated vinyl. The grand suite boasts a range of amenities from a vanity area to a Pac-Man machine and a custom ping-pong table.
The Hyatt Centric Downtown Nashville also includes amenities such as a pool, fitness center, meeting area, and two lounge spaces located on the ninth floor.
