TOR Hotel Group and Grivalia Hospitality have joined forces to create ON Residence, a forthcoming concept in the heart of Thessaloniki, Greece. The project will include the revitalization of the historic Olympos Naoussa restaurant and the development of a unique new boutique hotel located within a restored 1920s structure that reflects the Greek-Jewish vernacular of architect Jacques Mosse.
Reminiscent of the Belle Époque and neoclassicism, the property will undergo a transformation by architecture firm Diversity Group and architect Dimitris Thomopoulos. Locally based Nikiforidis-Cuomo Architects will craft the hotel’s communal areas, while French interior designer Fabienne Spahn will enliven the space with an Art Deco flair and a sense of luxury that mirrors the character of the historic site.
“ON Residence revives one of the most important historical buildings of Thessaloniki, built and operating since the 1920s,” says Thomopoulos. “Both its location on the coastal front and at the same time in the city center, as well as the historical significance of the building and its restaurant will make it a modern monument of the city and a beautiful example of Greek city hotels.”
A midcentury influence will be evoked by the velvet, wood, and brass found at reception. The refined ambiance of Olympos Naoussa will be heightened with the addition of a clandestine courtyard to serve as an oasis. Bronze lamps will illuminate the restaurant’s signature palette of gray and blue, which will serve as a backdrop for Art Deco-inspired furniture and bistro seating. The Tiger Loop cocktail bar will round out the onsite F&B options, clad with Art Deco elements and a palette of black, gold, and deep red to infuse a frenetic quality.
Four configurations will comprise the hotel’s 60 accommodations, including standard rooms, deluxe rooms, ON suites, and ON residences. Soft, natural tones will characterize each room with a classic but calm sense of luxury, accented by notes of pink and green. Bold patterns and high-end materials will complete the chic, timeless aesthetic.
The property is slated to open Q1 2022.
