Designed by locally based Jeffrey Beers International (JBI), the flagship Renaissance New York Midtown Hotel will open in the city’s Garment District this spring.
The new-build hotel will blend digital features with a variety of high-low design elements that nod to New York’s industrial aspects and creative industries.
Guests entering the 348-room hotel from either 34th or 35th Streets will notice interactive digital displays projected along the corridor—a passage that spans the entire block. This visual tapestry will respond to motion with subtle movements and graphic patterns that continue through the entrance hall, where curated digital imagery will highlight local artists. An alcove near the 34th Street entrance will act as a virtual concierge, while four-story LED screens at the top of the building will display a digital clock with designs that change every hour of the day.
Located on the sixth floor, the lobby will adjoin a Library Lounge, lobby bar, a hidden DJ booth, and a club lounge with contemporary furnishings and décor that reinterpret traditional fashion industry components, such as push pins and high heels, into complex wall art.
Visible from the lobby-level balcony, the fifth floor’s 8,000-square-foot terrace will feature a retractable roof, private cabanas, and two bars.
Accommodations will comprise 348 guestrooms with seven Executive suites, one Celebrity suite, and terrace suites with outdoor space. Each will include floor-to-ceiling windows, a juxtaposition of concrete and wood elements, pale finishes, and a neutral palette with pops of purple or gray on bedding and upholstery. A gradient-frosted glass shower wall will distinguish the rooms’ sleeping area from a white Italian marble ensuite bathroom.
Located on the seventh floor, the hotel’s 4,500 square feet of function space, divisible via glass air walls, can accommodate up to 250 guests. Floor-to-ceiling windows will offer city views, while stylized inspirational quotes from fashion industry notables such as Coco Chanel and Oscar de la Renta, will be painted on a back wall made of raw concrete.
