Located in the Ice District, a 25-acre mixed-use sports and entertainment development in downtown Edmonton, Alberta, Marriott International has announced the JW Marriott Edmonton. A partnership between Marriott International and Ice District Properties Joint Venture, the hotel is expected to open in late 2018 and will replace the former Delta Hotel following Marriott’s acquisition of Delta Hotels and Resorts last year.
Along with 365 rooms and suites, the JW Marriott Edmonton will feature 25,000 square feet of meeting and conference space, as well as a 10,000-square-foot ballroom. Amenities include a Spa by JW, and a restaurant operated by a renowned Canadian restaurateur.
“The hotel will perfectly complement Edmonton’s evolving downtown and tourist landscape,” says Don Cleary, president of Marriott Hotels of Canada.
Guests at the hotel will have easy access to the Ice District’s many attractions, including Rogers Place, the future home of NHL team the Edmonton Oilers; the Winter Garden—a 34,000-square-foot climate controlled facility; and the Grand Villa Edmonton Casino.
This will be the third JW Marriott hotel in Canada.
