Mykonos will soon be home to Kalesma, a brand-new resort set on a hilltop overlooking Ornos Bay. The lodging concept, which is slated to open June 2020, will comprise 25 suites and two villas.
Athens-based architecture firm K Studio is collaborating with Greek designer Vangelis Bonios of Studio Bonarchi on the project. The design is inspired by Mykonian tradition and its rich local history, and aimed to create an immersive experience for guests. This will be achieved through the installation of locally sourced materials and furnishings.
A palette of wood, marble, stone, and osier will infuse the property with a contemporary flair, while cool earth tones like taupe, gray, brown, and charcoal blend together with white-washed surfaces. Archways filled with bougainvillea further instill a sense of place.
Each 680-square-foot suite will also boast a 970-square-foot terrace. The two villas—one two-bedroom and one three-bedroom—are each 2,600 square feet and feature open-plan living and dining areas, as well as a fully equipped kitchen and private gym.
The retreat’s signature restaurant Pere Ubu and a full spa are set to open onsite in 2021.
