Hot off the success of the opening of Union Bar earlier this year, the Opposite House hotel in Beijing has unveiled its new lobby. Executed as a part of renovations spearheaded by Japanese designer Kengo Kuma, the reactivated space is anchored with a refreshed sense of grandeur thanks to new artwork featured.
The reception is punctuated with a massive, origami structure that casts a glow at the heart of the atrium. The lightweight, suspended structure is composed of acrylic plates and metal and serves as a symbol of Chinese motifs and iconography. Chinese artists like sculptor Wang Jin and Fiona Wong were also tapped to infuse authenticity across the environment. In addition, an onsite art program will be rotating annual themes with work from contemporary artist, keeping the artful touch alive all year around.
