The Kimpton Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach, California has completed work on is property-wide refresh, which saw upgrades to the lobby, outdoor spaces, and all 157 guestrooms. Led by Manhattan Beach, California-based designer Theresa Fatino, the new design showcases a fresh translation of surf style with modern graphics, moody ocean tones, and retro-inspired furnishings.
Fatino’s design includes striped and solid vinyl headboards, fresh carpeting, and ornately detailed furnishings. The color palette captures the playful spirit of Southern California inside and out—the repainted façade is adorned with shades of blue and green. The renovation also includes the opening of Pacific Hideaway, the hotel’s new American restaurant. The polished, causal venue is equipped with roll-up garage doors, a large handcarved bar depicting ocean tides, and an expansive patio and lounge that offer framed views of the pier and ocean. Among the vibrant colors, textures, and décor, handcrafted items have been sourced from Mexico, Indonesia, and Japan.
The refresh occurs on the heels of the property’s new fitness center launch. The 1,600-square-foot space boasts new technology and equipment as well as rustic, tropical elements such as alternating wood planks, marine colors, and a multipanel mural of the Huntington Beach Pier. A 40-foot-wide bouldering wall has also been installed.
