On a serene islet overlooking the Thu Bon River, Namia River Retreat offers an ultra-luxury escape just outside the UNESCO-listed town of Hoi An in Vietnam.
Designed by T3 Architects and Kanopea Architecture Studio, the resort comprises 60 spacious villas that blend sustainability with contemporary elegance.

A sustainable design
Inspired by the region’s vernacular architecture, Namia River Retreat reinterprets traditional countryside homes and fishermen’s houses through the integration of timber structures and masonry for both comfort and resilience. The villas feature integrated bathtubs that invite guests to immerse themselves in the rhythm of river life as well.
Sustainability is at the heart of the property’s design. Natural riverbanks were preserved with bamboo and mangroves, which stabilizes the soil without heavy infrastructure.
The master plan also prioritizes minimal environmental impact, with buildings elevated on stilts, native plants retained, and pedestrian-friendly pathways designed for bicycles and electric golf carts.
Further, all structures at Namia Retreat were designed to maximize natural ventilation, minimize sun exposure, and reduce reliance on air conditioning—elevating guest comfort and energy efficiency.
Amenities at Namia River Retreat
A light, open-air pool bar and restaurant provide sweeping views of the river, while the mainland restaurant is framed by a fishpond and a preserved wild riverbank, creating a dynamic dining experience that shifts with the mood and climate.
The spa—designed with organic, flowing curves—blends into the riverside landscape to create a tranquil setting for wellness treatments.
