PACIFIC 19 Kona (P19) has opened on Hawaii Island. Managed by Springboard Hospitality, the 122-room hotel has been reimagined by Honolulu-based design firm the Vanguard Theory.
Inspired by the Pacific Ocean, the property brings the outside in with a series of intentional spaces. A giant monkeypod tree and flora anchor the open-air lobby entrance, accentuated by lush planters, teak slat walls, matching wood shelving, and custom wallpaper designed by local artist Lauren Trangmar that features native royal palms, papaya, ohia, and koa trees. Additionally, local woodworker Ryan Donnelly crafted a large reception table from reclaimed monkeypod.
“P19 reflects the textures and landscape unique to the island. Being at the heart of all the action, [the hotel] is designed to be the basecamp for guests to venture from,” says Michelle Jaime, principal and creative director of the Vanguard Theory. “It is also a partner for guests to create their island adventure, connect with locals, and learn about Hawaii’s culture and island life.”
In the guestrooms, a palette of sandy taupe, palm green, black lava, and whitecap complement natural wood furnishings to reflect the landscape of Kailua-Kona. Custom furniture includes wooden credenzas and upholstered headboards, which nod to the island’s inviting spirit. All accommodations include a private lanai (or roofed porch) and a macro bar featuring snacks and purchasable adventure gear.
PACIFIC 19 is also home to Café P19 and a lobby retail shop, as well as programming centered around art, music, culture, and wellness.
