The Park Hyatt Chicago is set to reopen this July following a $60 million renovation led by Anderson/Miller, Ltd and locally based studio Sheedy DeLaRosa Interiors. Upgrades include reimagined accommodations and enhanced public spaces—from the lobby to the onsite library and spa—that evoke opulence.
“Around the world, Park Hyatt is synonymous with luxury. We want our guests to feel that they are in the same, gorgeous Park Hyatt lobby but with a modern, fresh update,” says Natalie Sheedy, principal designer at Sheedy DeLaRosa. “The end goal is that our guests feel like they are in a sophisticated space that is still approachable and comfortable.”
Among the interior’s most distinctive updates, black wood columns have been transformed with custom white mosaic tile. “The main objective of the lobby renovation is to lighten up the existing space,” Sheedy adds. “The Park Hyatt Chicago has had a fantastic rotating artwork program. Our goal is to create a serene and sophisticated space where the artwork can be the star.” Upholstered wall panels will also be replaced with natural grass-cloth wallcoverings to further accentuate a brighter, more refreshing redesign.
Revamped guestrooms and suites, spearheaded by Anderson/Miller, will convey a more modern ethos, expressed through a soothing palette of organic materials and vibrant green accents. Wraparound terraces will dawn several of the hotel’s 36 suites as well, including some of the 23 new units joining the lineup.
All onsite F&B options are also set to reopen, and the hotel spa will introduce a new treatment room.
