The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua in Maui has returned following a multimillion-dollar refresh from Honolulu-based Philpotts & Associates Interior Design. The enhancements arrive in time for the property’s 25th anniversary.
Lobby upgrades were informed by the Hawaiian word “mana,” which refers to the forces of nature embodied in an object or person. Intimate lighting is installed along with fire elements and organic lines and textures to create a natural indoor-outdoor atmosphere. The lobby level is also home to the new Kai Café. The 10,000-square-foot tri-level pool is surrounded by a 20,000-square-foot sundeck appointed with newly revamped cabana suites. New landscaping anchors the property in a tropical ambiance.
The 463 guestrooms and 107 residential suites have each been updated to reflect the natural beauty and heritage of Maui. Sand and azure blue tones inject a sense of calm, while accents of deep green capture the ocean and the flora. Floor-to-ceiling windows reinforce the majesty of the serene surroundings.
