Nestled on 19 acres in California—between the rolling hills of Carmel Valley and the Marina Dunes Preserve—the Sanctuary Beach Resort has emerged from a renovation led by New Orleans-based firm FAROUKI FAROUKI.
Each of the Monterey Bay property’s 60 guestrooms and suites were reimagined to evoke coastal cabin aesthetics. The refreshed spaces are outfitted with a warm fireplace and a dedicated terrace framing the beachfront.
Traditional architectural elements are paired with whitewashed wood paneling, handmade furniture, leather accents, and shiplap overlay to create a home-away-from-home feel that is both laidback and luxurious.
The interiors lean into a palette of natural tones and saturated blues as a callback to the Pacific Ocean just steps away from the property.
Each accommodation is designed with sea-grass wall hangings, locally crafted artwork, rattan light fixtures, woven rugs, and other natural touches as a celebration of the surrounding environment.
