The Sandos Caracol Eco Resort in Mexico’s Riviera Maya has announced a $20 million renovation of its entire 639-room Family Section. Over the next three years, the guestrooms will be revamped into accommodations for multigenerational travelers, complete with new splash pools, bunk beds, and private bathrooms. Phase one of the redesign will see the transformation of 92 guestrooms into 72 Signature Eco Superior rooms and 20 Signature Eco junior suites.
The Signature Eco Collection will embody sustainability with eco-friendly materials, LED lighting, an upgraded water heating system, and a system for recycling gray and soapy water. The design will also reflect an environmentally themed motif with natural, earthen tones and rustic wood paneling on floors and walls, and Caribbean-inspired colors adding vibrancy to select guestrooms. Signature Eco junior suites will be equipped with personal plunge pools on their terraces, which offer views of surrounding landscape.
