Miami-based Stantec has been selected as the architect of the $250 million waterfront development the Pointe. Located in downtown Nassau, the Bahamas near the cruise ship port, the project broke ground last August, and will be completed by 2017.
Developed by Neworld One Bay Street, the Point will include a hotel, residences, retail, entertainment, office space, restaurants, and a marina.
The 200-room hotel will include an open air shopping destination that will include designer shops, local Bahamian stores, more than a dozen dining options, a movie theater, nightclub, bowling alley, and beach bar.
The eight-story condo building is inspired by the abstract, curved forms of cruise ships visible in the harbor just beyond the site. All 110 residential units will have views of the ocean and the iconic Nassau lighthouse. Amenities on the roof include an infinity pool, a bar, and cabanas surrounded by lush tropical landscaping.
The parking complex, located across from the residences, will emulate the style of the British Colonial Hilton, but will also incorporate modern elements. Along with parking, it will also include retail on the bottom level, as well as an office component that spans all levels.
An outdoor plaza connects the project’s three different complexes, while a winding boardwalk will lead to a floating restaurant and the James Bond-themed bar Double O’s in the middle of the ocean. Cruise ship passengers to the area will have easy access to the Pointe’s amenities.
