The landmark Berkeley Shore hotel in Miami Beach has begun a total revamp, led by Stantec’s local office.
Built in 1940, the boutique hotel was conceived by architect Albert Anis, known for his Art Deco designs.
The 45,100-square-foot property’s redevelopment will include 96 guestrooms, a restaurant, along with the addition of a 10-story tower with its own rooftop Zen garden and pool. The project will see original Art Deco architectural elements restored and augmented.
Historic interiors will nod to Miami Beach with a warm, neutral palette punctuated by pops of color throughout the structure, its new tower, and the pool deck. Natural materials—such as wood, stone, and other textural elements—will feature prominently. Contemporary guestrooms will offer an open layout.
Located behind the existing hotel, the tower’s exterior will reinterpret Anis’ original design.
The Berkley Shore Hotel is slated for completion next spring.
