IHG Hotels & Resorts has revealed plans to break ground on a new Vignette Collection hotel in McMinnville, Oregon late next year. The Gwendolyn hotel is slated to open as the brand’s maiden U.S. outpost in 2025 and will be crafted by Portland, Oregon-based architecture practice Otak.
“Vignette Collection hotels attract travelers expecting a distinct, luxurious, and highly localized experience,” says Matt Frankiewicz, senior vice president of development, Americas for IHG. “We’re thrilled to debut this luxury and lifestyle collection brand in the U.S. alongside Hugh Development and Practice Hospitality.”
The first hotel of its kind in the region, the 92-room Gwendolyn will occupy a coveted spot along McMinnville’s historic Third Street retail and cultural district. A destination restaurant will anchor the property, which will be crowned with a rooftop pool and an accompanying restaurant and bar. A fitness center, spa, and retail concepts will also be housed onsite.
“As a native Oregonian with family connections to McMinnville, I am honored to bring our team, IHG Hotels & Resorts, and our development partners together to bring the first U.S. Vignette Collection hotel to our state,” adds Hugh Development founder and principal Andrew Clarke. “The Gwendolyn will complement the historic and charming identity of Third Street while also conveying the brand’s signature elegance and sense of curiosity. We look forward to contributing to McMinnville’s growth while establishing a destination where travelers and the community can gather and engage.”
