Salt Hotels has revealed plans to expand its footprint into Minneapolis. Set to open in the city’s North Loop in late 2023, the West Hotel will showcase the company’s signature approach to hospitality through a localized lens.
The Salt Hotels team, helmed by David Bowd and Kevin O’Shea, will transform a former brass foundry into an elegant 123-room urban retreat in collaboration with Shanghai firm Neri&Hu and locally based Snow Kreilich Architects.
“We’re eager to expand into this vibrant city and collaborate with these amazing and talented partners,” says Salt Hotels CEO David Bowd. “I fell in love with Minneapolis the first time I visited. The people are incredible, and the beautiful architecture, along with its strong creative culture and appreciation for service and design—both cornerstones of Salt Hotels—solidified Minneapolis as Salt Hotels’ latest venture. We’re excited to be expanding here during a time when such transformational developments are taking place.”
The West Hotel’s expansive lobby will serve as a social hub, comprising a sundrenched communal workspace, fireside lounge, library, and bar. A stone cellar cocktail bar and a rooftop bar will also be featured.
Additionally, James Beard Award-winning chef Tim McKee will launch a Spanish restaurant onsite along with a Mediterranean-inspired bakery. Six flexible event and meeting spaces will round out the property.
