Verdura Resort, a Rocco Forte Hotel, in Sicily will soon expand an additional eight villas in September. Crafted by the hotel company’s design director Olga Polizzi, each of the private accommodations will feature their own distinctive styles to complement the Sicilian architectural vernacular. Traditional beams, flat roofs, external stairs, and floor-to-ceiling windows will allow for exposure to surrounding environment and reference the regional landscapes.
Spread across two floors, the three- or four-bedroom villas will each feature a sunny living area, fully equipped kitchen, private swimming pool, and garden. Mobile partitions will be used to separate rooms in order to maintain an open floor plan. The accommodations’ décor will pay homage to Sicilian art—from gilding reminiscent of the late Byzantine mosaics at the Palatine Chapel to geometric tile flooring that recall Monreale Cathedral.
