Starwood Hotels & Resorts has announced the W Punta de Mita, an oceanfront resort with 120 villas located on Mexico’s Pacific coast, is set to open in May. Part of Los Veneros, a mixed-use oceanfront development near Puerto Vallarta, the W Punta de Mita is owned by Fideicomiso Los Veneros.
Amenities at the resort include the W Living Room, W Lounge, WET outdoor pool deck with views of the Pacific Ocean, a signature restaurant, a FIT fitness center, and the 4,000 square foot AWAY spa.
“With the opening of W Punta de Mita, Mexico will become be the only country in Latin America to boast two W hotels, demonstrating its continued position as one of the most in-demand travel markets in the world,” says Jorge Giannattasio, Starwood’s senior vice president and chief of Latin America operations.
In addition to W Punta de Mita, several other W hotels are in development in Latin America, including the W Panama, an urban hotel set to open in 2017; the W Riviera Maya – Kanai, set to open in 2018; and the W Costa Rica – Reserva Conchal, which will debut in 2019.
