Wynn Las Vegas recently completed a $70 million transformation of its invitation-only villas.
The redesign was made possible by a team led by Todd-Avery Lenahan, president and chief creative officer of Wynn Design and Development.
Fusing Classicism, Cubism, and Fauvism into a timeless and contemporary look, each of the six villas—ranging between 13,000 and nearly 18,000 gross square feet—offer multiple master suites, media rooms, gym facilities, and pools flanked with verdant gardens.
Upon entry, guests are greeted by a dramatic arrival gallery that features a collection of objet d’art, from champagne-gilded Murano chandeliers to vintage alabaster pendant globes. This 800-foot-long hallway—punctuated by skylights, windows, and mirrored walls—guides guests into the villas. “We created a really strong architectural rhythm, versus repetition, that modulates your procession through those galleries,” says Lenahan. “Despite its size, you feel like you’re the only one arriving at one of the six residences.”
While the entrance to each villa bears the same architectural framework, the pieces on display are unique. “There’s not a single repeating element throughout those galleries,” Lenahan notes.
Inside, furnishings comprise custom pieces and rare antique finds sourced from all over the world. The collection also includes items acquired for Wynn’s upcoming Al Marjan Island resort, and will remain on display in Las Vegas until 2025. Bespoke textiles and artwork adorn the walls as well.
From delicate Florentine Renaissance masterpieces to bold early-20th-century French Bohemian works, the artworks “are important and exceptional on their own,” Lenahan says. “The challenge comes in how you pair them in the space. Sometimes, they become the commanding element.”
In today’s every-changing world, Lenahan emphasizes the importance of creating spaces, like the villas, with an enduring, landmark quality. “You’ll never see us do things that are here today, gone tomorrow,” he adds. “We build for longevity and we build things that have a story—a heart.”
