Scandic Hotels will build its flagship property in Stockholm, Sweden. Local firm +ROLF design & arkitektur will design the 400-room hotel, housed within a 130-year-old building, to integrate its historic surroundings. Opening in the fall of 2011, Scandic Stockholm will also have meeting facilities, a restaurant, and a large lounge/bar. "The hotel will have a unique identity," says Frank Fiskers, president and CEO of Scandic. "The buzz of the streets will be welcomed in, bringing the spaces to life with art and design and putting guests at the heart of the action."
