Tiffany & Co. has debuted a temporary store in the heart of the 8th arrondissement of Paris. An adaptive design, executed by OMA, will evolve throughout the shop’s yearlong opening in order to reflect the character of the collections on display. “Tiffany & Co. has a rich history both in making jewelry and in product design,” says OMA partner Ellen van Loon. “For us, it was important to showcase that history. More than an occasion to discover Tiffany’s latest collection, a visit to the store also becomes a journey across time.”
Crafted for both retail and archival display, the store comprises a sequence of spaces characterized by distinct differing atmospheres. The centerpiece of the opulent interior is a rotunda where highlights from Tiffany’s jewelry archive are exhibited physically and via digital screens. The octagonal room showcases the current Tiffany collection, while appointments are hosted in an intimate space in the rear where the retailer’s 1887 French Crown Jewels catalog is featured. Custom furniture promotes exploration alongside antique Tiffany lamps that infuse the store with an early 20th-century sensibility. Furthermore, gradient blue carpeting flows through the interior for an immersive homage to the brand’s signature hue.
