Joali is set to unveil its immersive wellness retreat Joali Being in the Maldives in late 2021. Located on the natural island of Bodufushi in Raa Atoll, the secluded getaway will feature architecture from Cuneyt Bukulmez of Atolye 4N and interiors by local firm Autoban.
“Nature is a sensory experience,” Bukulmez says. “Following the biophilia as another design criteria, we mimicked nature as color, form, and patterns of movement. Spaces contain the essence of natural elements to create a positive impact, such as improved concentration, broader consideration, and creative thinking.”
Centered around four pillars of wellbeing—mind, skin, microbiome, and energy—the wellness resort will be home to 39 treatment rooms and transformational spaces including facilities for hydrotherapy, sensory deprivation, sound therapy, and more. A fitness center and an over-water meditation deck will also be featured along with a herbology center and retail space. F&B options will be housed across the large, open concept dining area known as Flow. The tropical beach sanctuary Mojo will serve as a poolside venue, situated upon a three-layered sundeck.
All 68 private beach and water villas will be come with their own private pool. The centerpiece of the onsite accommodations will be the four-bedroom overwater villa overlooking the ocean. The luxe villa will also house wellbeing and movement rooms.
