The Dupont Circle hotel in Washington, DC’s eponymous posh neighborhood has just emerged from a multimillion-dollar transformation. New York-based designer Clodagh partnered with London-based Martin Brudnizki Design Studio to create the hotel’s opulent vernacular. An apt complement to the Doyle Collection, the Dupont Circle hotel welcomes visitors with a glamorous 1950s-style aesthetic elevated by contemporary comforts, varied textures, and bold colorways.
The hotel occupies a refurbished midcentury structure adorned with nostalgic accents and new holistic elements like live-edge wood and handwoven rugs. Chic public spaces like the Doyle Bar evoke an old fashioned warmth with wood paneling, brass and leather details, and fireplaces. The Pembroke restaurant, meanwhile, adopts a more animated aesthetic with diagonally striped floors and marble-topped tables accented by salmon pink banquettes installed beneath seductive lighting. Pale blue umbrellas also shelter the alfresco seating on the spacious garden terrace.
Each of the hotel’s guestrooms have been updated to convey a contemporary flair composed of natural materials and soothing earth tones. Conceived as a sanctuary on the ninth floor, the penthouse suite was refreshed to support both one- or two-bedroom configurations. Spread across 3,000 square feet when expanded into two bedrooms, the suite is also equipped with a heated outdoor terrace that overlooks the city.
