New York-based Celano Design Studio has unveiled its design of Carcara, the newest addition to the F&B lineup at Sheraton Phoenix Downtown hotel. Completed as part of a property-wide renovation, the new restaurant evokes modernity with lush greenery and warm earth tones inspired by the desert landscapes of Arizona’s Sonoran Desert region. “Carcara celebrates the natural wonders of the Sonoran region, with particular inspiration coming from the cotton fields and citrus groves,” says Vincent Celano, founder and CEO of Celano Design Studio. “We utilized materials like cotton fabrics, clay pots, and wood to bring the feeling of the outdoors into the restaurant and create a lush escape in the resort.”
The 276-seat restaurant spans 7,000 square feet, comprising a central bar, indoor lounge, main dining room, and a trio of individually designed private dining rooms. Carcara also features the Grove, an outdoor lounge lined with Cara Cara orange trees and anchored by a traditional fireplace and dual fire pits.
A mix of clay pots and large wood planters are suspended above marble pavers and a medley of ochre and sunbaked gold hues, while a 14-foot-tall Chestnut Oak grows through the central wooden trellis—creating the design’s main focal point. Glass and metal lanterns hang from branches as well, emitting a soft glow.
