The Pad has debuted as the first boutique hotel/hostel in Colorado. Located in Silverthorne along the Blue River in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, the 101-bed concept blends the comfort and service of a hotel with the uncomplicated ethos of a hostel experience. An interior design by BraytonHughes Design Studios enlivens the Pad with a bright, airy atmosphere that evokes a modern alpine identity.
“We wanted the interiors to convey a story true to Colorado’s active mountain community and grounded in the natural beauty of the locale,” says BraytonHughes principal Kiko Singh. “Building upon the elemental, clean tone established in the architecture, we introduced simple patterns and materials with timeless influence and balanced the vivid green tone that was established as a leading color concept with bright white walls and black metal accents.”
Partially constructed from 18 upcycled shipping containers, the Pad balances a contemporary-chic attitude with an emphasis on sustainability. Wood salvaged from a former onsite structure was reused and integrated into the design as artwork and accents. Custom bunk beds in the dorm rooms are made of reclaimed wood and recycled American steel as well.
Other lodging configurations include family rooms and deluxe private rooms equipped with private balconies overlooking mountainous vistas. Corrugated patterns adorning the shipping container walls add a sense of coziness to the guestrooms, while onsite social hub the aspen lounge is outfitted with a wallcovering that depicts an ethereal forest in black and white etched lines. Locally sourced artwork featuring a range of media infuses a sense of place across the interior as well.
