French restaurant MUSE has opened its doors in Santa Monica.
Chef-owner Fardad Khayami redefines classic French cuisine with a visionary approach.
Crafted by Marc Ange Design Studio, the space layers French surrealism and Italian romance with California’s laid-back coastal aesthetic. Marc Ange’s own history, shaped by his childhood in Rome and Paris, is also deeply embedded in the Los Angeles restaurant’s ambiance. The result is an intimate escape that feels luxurious yet grounded, elegant yet inviting.
The restaurant houses 35 seats in the main dining room, four seats at the bar, and a 12-seat private room. Dining nooks are enveloped in rich wood paneling and a palette of warm, earthy tones—beige, brick, and gold—creating a cocoon-like environment that invites comfort and conversation.
The mood is elevated throughout MUSE via sculptural lighting and custom furniture, which complements a rotating collection of art. For its debut, MUSE features works from Catalan-Spanish artist Joan Miró, offering guests a chance to dine among masterpieces.
“It’s an intimate experience, suspended in time—a tribute to art, gastronomy, and the spirit of friendship,” says Ange. “In Los Angeles, where such elegance is special, MUSE is a haven for those who seek beauty in both design and cuisine—an oasis for art lovers, culinary enthusiasts, and anyone yearning for authenticity.”
