A retro-style design by Landini Associates is set to roll out across six Slim’s Quality Burger outposts in Australia. Described by Landini design director Paul Gates as a “Pop Art-inspired homage to the burger bars of the 1950s,” the fast-casual concept debuts with a standalone location at the Marrickville Metro retail center in the Inner West suburb of Sydney.
“It’s increasingly important to stand out from the crowd, particularly as casual dining competes with other multimodal ones,” Gates adds. “Whether customers at Slim’s engage with the super-convenient drive-up or drive-through, or if they come inside to dine, they’ll all enjoy the unique reinvention of the classic American diner, complete with modern flourishes and a tempting new menu of great food.”
The Marrickville restaurant is distinguished by a striking palette of red and blue terrazzo and iridescent blue ceramics. Oak and stainless-steel accents offset the vibrancy of the 2,400-square-foot flagship, which is further animated by environmental graphics and Pop Art illustrations. Full-height windows wrap the façade and bond interiors with the surroundings, while an open kitchen serves as a lively focal point.
