Hotel Wailea Unveils Multimillion-Dollar Redesign

Published: January 9, 2015

Hotel Wailea in Maui has completed a $15 million redesign led by Honolulu-based interior designer Marion Philpotts-Miller.

Set 300 feet above sea level, Hotel Wailea boasts a relaxed beach house design across 72 one-bedroom suites, a pool with private residential-style cabanas, and an orchard-to-glass apothecary bar.

Inside the contemporary suites, architectural elements such as coral and limestone walls, smoked white oak floors, and custom-crafted Hawaiian Ohia cabinetry are fused with island aesthetics, including artwork by local artist, Pete Cabrinha.

The new poolside lounge, the Cabanas, offers a series of oversized cabanas and a pool deck with sun chaises, aqua loungers, and circular pod daybeds. A built-in fire pit sits center stage along with hanging lights, tiki torches, and lanterns.

Hotel Wailea is also beginning its next phase of upgrades, which includes an oceanview treehouse-turned-spa projected for completion this spring.
