In the heart of Oaxaca, Mexico’s bustling Historic Center, Hotel Sin Nombre has debuted at the intersection of tranquil minimalism and sophisticated craftsmanship. Architect João Boto Cæiro spearheaded the thoughtful intervention of a 17th-century colonial abode to accommodate the new hotel and showcase its original architectural elements through a contemporary lens.
A central courtyard anchors the hotel’s interior—flooded with natural light and lined with faultless white columns, arches, and stone floors. Plush cushions and handmade rugs by local textile artisans are on display in the courtyard and across the central staircase, which pays homage to local ancestral painting techniques that employ charcoal, limestone, earth, and clay. The showstopping glass dome and early 20th-century ironwork further emphasize the history of the site in the library and the Restaurante Sin Nombre. Additionally, a rooftop swimming pool crowns the hotel and embraces views of the city.
Each of the 22 guestrooms boast intrinsic luminosity and spaciousness, as well as highlight a unique interplay between light and shade. Tropical wood furniture populate each accommodation, along with antique pieces and snow-toned bed linens that contrast hand-embroidered throws and locally sourced textiles.
