Dallas-based Studio 11 Design has completed the revamp of the Hyatt Centric French Quarter New Orleans. The 254-room property pays tribute to the distinctive culture of the city, its dramatic architecture, and the site’s fashionable roots.
“We drew inspiration from the building’s storied past and vibrant locale. The design was intended to embrace the character, creativity, and magic of New Orleans while weaving in fashion-centric themes to pay homage to its historical roots as the original D.H. Holmes department store,” says Studio 11 interior designer Brook Schulze. “We wanted guests to experience the mystique of New Orleans, but with greater attention to elegance.”
Fashion motifs were woven into the fabric of the hotel, with bespoke, tailored touches like embossed leather tiles seen on the reception desk and upholstered seating featuring contrast stitching. The styles of 1950s Europe also informed the design, which heralds guests in the lobby with updated blue and burnt orange tones and lustrous charcoal paint. Colorful mosaics and geometric wood panels are illuminated by custom Italian glass chandeliers, while patterned floor rugs add depth and sophistication atop Italian marble floors.
The hotel’s signature restaurant, Holmes, evokes a polished but warm ambiance rooted in comfort as well. Inspired by the region’s waterways, a cool color palette enlivens the hotel’s 10,660 square feet of flexible meeting space with shades of blue and gold. The areas are further elevated by contemporary pendants, textured wallpaper, dark wood, and graphic carpeting.
Accommodations at the Hyatt Centric provide reprieve from nearby Bourbon Street with a palette of teal, navy, and burgundy accented by florals and brass accents. Contemporary furnishings and graphic carpet patterns aim to reinvigorate, crafted to inspire the modern explorer. Premium suites even boast an array of curated antiques and artwork as a nod to the site’s former department store.
