Millennium Hotels and Resorts has completed the third and final phase of renovations at the Lakefront Anchorage in Alaska as part of its multimillion-dollar plan to revamp its 14 North American properties.
Formerly the Millennium Alaskan Hotel Anchorage, the Lakefront Anchorage is the fifth U.S. Millennium hotel to receive updates in the past two years. Other recently renovated Millenium properties include ONE UN New York, Millennium Hotel Minneapolis, Millennium Harvest House Boulder, and the McCormick Scottsdale. The Millennium Biltmore Los Angeles and Millennium Hotel Buffalo are slated for updates this year.
“These enhancements come on the heels of another signature location’s renovation, the McCormick Scottsdale,” says Colin Wang, Millennium’s vice president of operations, North America. “We look forward to unveiling the new look of our other properties as part of the company’s ongoing commitment and investment in our U.S. portfolio.”
The 248-room Lakefront Anchorage overlooks Lake Spenard and Lake Hood and is nearby Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. The property serves as the official host hotel for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.
As part of the final phases of renovations, all guestrooms were remodeled to evoke an Alaskan lodge aesthetic highlighted by soft colors and wood accents, while one-bedroom suites now include a fireplace. Property corridors are adorned with Alaskan photography by Denali National Park’s award-winning photographer Jimmy Tohill. The revamp also included exterior upgrades to the building.
The previous two phases of refurbishments included updates to the hotel’s public spaces, lobby, Fancy Moose lounge, Flying Machine restaurant, and seasonal outdoor Deck at Lake Hood. The property’s 6,000 square feet of meetings and event space was also remodeled.
