Brooklyn, New York-based firm Studio Tack has been tapped to design upcoming mountain retreat Scribner’s Catskills Lodge in New York. Set on 20 acres, the modern interiors will honor the heritage of the existing 1960s building with eclectic furnishings and a nostalgic sense of place.
Featuring vintage pattern rugs and custom furniture and artwork, the 38 guestrooms feature 12 different layouts, including two top-floor suites with oversized private balconies. Staying true to the original architecture, several rooms include high-peaked ceilings and lofted gathering and sleeping areas. Select guestrooms will also include a fireplace. Guestroom floors are hardwood, while terracotta tiles line each bathroom, complemented by overhead rain showers.
The two-story lobby will be flooded with sun thanks to two massive overhead skylights. And offering 270-degree mountain views, the 110-seat onsite restaurant—the Guest Lounge—will convey warmth across 1,850 square feet with interior wood finishes and an outdoor patio complete with a firepit.
The lodge is slated to open in October.
