Proper Hospitality will make its Florida debut with the Shelborne by Proper in Miami Beach. The property is set to open in May following a $100 million renovation.
The 251-room beachfront hotel, originally built in 1940, has been reimagined by Barcelona- and London-based ADC Atelier.
Reimagined interiors
The renovation blends Miami Art Deco and Miami Modernism influences, while restoring the property’s historic charm.
A grand 4,000-square-foot lobby bar, which incorporates the restored 18th Street façade and double-height windows, is introduced, along with refreshed public spaces and the revival of the hotel’s original pool and landmark diving board.
Guestrooms and suites are rendered in a warm, earthy palette, featuring honed travertine floors, handwoven wallcoverings, and custom ceramic sconces.
Signature accommodations include a 1,700-square-foot two-bedroom penthouse with an expansive terrace and ocean views, as well as two-bedroom pool villas that feature kitchenettes and private terraces overlooking the Atlantic.
“The Shelborne project presented an exciting opportunity to blend timeless Art Deco elements with modern luxury,” says Aaron David Clarke, principal of ADC Atelier. “Our focus was on respecting the building’s storied past while crafting spaces that feel both inviting and contemporary for today’s guests.”
F&B and amenities at the Shelborne
The property’s F&B program, developed in collaboration with Lowder-Tascarella Hospitality, will include signature restaurant Pauline, cocktail lounge Little Torch, a lobby bar and café, and an outdoor pool bar and oceanfront beach club.
Additional offerings include a beach and wellness membership, a 24-hour fitness center, and more than 30,000 square feet of flexible event space.
