Acquired by private investment firm Reuben Brothers in 2020, the Surrey hotel on New York’s Upper East Side has announced that it has undergone an extensive redesign and reopen as the Surrey, a Corinthia Hotel, in 2023. The property will mark Corinthia Hotels’ maiden U.S. outpost and its second collaboration with Reuben Brothers.
Renovations will draw upon the illustrious and opulent history of the site and its surroundings. The reimagined hotel will introduce a number of new F&B options to the neighborhood through a collaboration with Miami-based hospitality brand Casa Tua.
All accommodations—which spans 97 guestrooms, including 33 suites and five signature suites, and a dozen luxury residences—will receive a refresh courtesy of London-based Martin Brudnizki Design Studio. “It is a privilege to work with a landmark hotel such as the Surrey,” Brudnizki says. “We look forward to adding to the legacy of this iconic building and translating the combined vision of the Reuben Brothers and Corinthia Hotels to create a new and exciting destination for the Upper East Side.”
