JW Marriott Desert Springs Goes Green

Published: April 25, 2011

JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa in Palm Desert, California, has implemented a series of eco-friendly initiatives inside and outside of the property. These include:

  • In meeting spaces, the use of recycled notepads and pens, paperless notebooks (in the form of thumbdrives), and water coolers in place of individual water bottles
  • Sending all landscaping waste from the resort’s 450 acres to a local composting facility
  • Replacing less efficient HVAC equipment with higher-rated systems
  • Processing used cooking oil into useable biodiesel fuel
  • High-efficiency showerheads and faucets
  • Locally sourced ingredients for the restaurants
