Nestled beside Félix Cocktails et Cuisine in Charleston, La Cave is an intimate new sipping lounge and salon privé that channels the relaxed elegance of southern France.
Designed by architect Dan Sweeney of Stumphouse in close collaboration with owners Félix and Leslie Landrum, the space transforms a downtown footprint into a warm, light-filled retreat.
Expansive street-facing windows flood the lounge with natural light, illuminating interiors rich with texture and tradition. Natural wood finishes, exposed stone walls, and crystal chandeliers set the tone, while reclaimed beams and coffered tile panels stretch across the ceiling. Underfoot, pale blonde herringbone parquet flooring evokes classic European design.
At the heart of the space, a 12-seat bar is framed by a drop-down crown molding ceiling and two oversized chandeliers. Glass-front cabinets showcase a curated selection of French wines and spirits, reinforcing the room’s convivial spirit.
A neutral palette of tans, beiges, and soft whites is offset by two indigo tufted leather sofas, adding a bold yet sophisticated contrast. Personal touches abound, including a gallery wall of handpainted family portraits by the Landrums’ daughter Pierette and a collection of thoughtfully sourced antiques.
For intimate gatherings, a custom wooden farm table—tucked into a corner behind arched openings and drapery—offers a semi-private enclave that reflects the salon’s welcoming, countryside sensibility.
