Omni Hotels & Resorts has purchased the Amelia Island Plantation north of Jacksonville, Florida, for $67.1 million. The company plans to expand the existing resort to include 125 additional guestrooms, as well as a 16,000-square-foot ballroom. Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, marshlands, and Intracoastal Waterway, the 1,350-acre resort currently features the Amelia Inn, nearly 50,000 square feet of function space, 54 holes golf, a tennis center with 23 courts, a signature spa, numerous pools, a shopping village, a fitness center, and nine dining venues.
